Where the Peak District begins

Hyde sits on the eastern rim of Greater Manchester, and the ground rises sharply towards Werneth Low and the Peak fringe. That has two consequences we deal with constantly.

What to do first

Shut the internal stopcock, most often under the kitchen sink. If the problem started in freezing weather and the boiler has stopped rather than water escaping, check outside for a plastic condensate pipe running from the boiler through the wall. If it is frozen, that is very likely your entire fault and it is a quick fix.
